Varrock was always the place you could go in case you were lost, Falador walking or you needed PvP in the "wildy". Varrock's two banks had always been full of members buying and selling items. This is how the economy of Runescape was prior to the Grand Exchange for those of you who joined after the addition of the Grand Exchange. You'd be amazed by the different colors of armor, weapons and caps and would like to know how to obtain similar objects.
You soon discovered that being a member offered more advantages than being an f2p player. Although your parents wouldn't allow you to pay for a month-long membership, they didn't stop you from playing for free To Play. While you would like to return to Lumbridge for training as a Level 3, you won't be able to do so.
Then, you emailed your new friend and he'd be rushing back to you near the waterfall, appearing as a green dot on the mini-map. After you've clicked right, select your friend and press "Follow". Within minutes you'd have cows fighting and cowhides in Lumbridge.
After some training you'll be able to meet players who hang around, and occasionally have conversations with them. Find out their origins, how long they have played Runescape and what their hobbies are. They'd also offer advice or even trick you into going into the wilderness, killing you and stealing all that you had on your inventory. It would be very heartbreaking, as you wouldn't know what to do after you received the following message: "Oh dear. You are dead."
