Old School Runescape Farming Guide
farming is a technique where players cultivate seeds and harvest their crops. The crops that are grown include hops, vegetables, and herbs as well as wood-bearing trees, cacti, and even mushrooms. The items that are harvested have many applications, and are a favorite to train players in Herblore and cooking. A lot of players sell their harvests for a substantial gain.
The trees that are grown in farms are available only to the person who has grown the plants. This is particularly useful for trees that produce wood. As with wild trees, player-grown trees can be cut down to make logs or for Woodcutting experience, and then regenerating after an indeterminate amount of time. However, since they're only available to the person who planted them, they are able to be cut with no opposition.
The crops are planted according to established timings, and continue to grow even after the player has logged out. This allows players to accumulate a lot of experience with a limited amount of time, particularly when cultivating plants with high levels of experience, such as trees. Additionally, players can gain learning by planning their farming runs which maximize the amount of plants that can be grown simultaneously.
In addition, there are two other tree patches within the farming guild: Redwood located in the corner of the North-West or The Farming guild. There is also the the Celastrus farming patch, which is located in the North section of the guild.
When you are growing Oak trees, in order to achieve an 80% success rate of your tree's growth, offer a basket of tomatoes to the farmer, and he will take care of your tree for you!
Oak Trees take about 3.5 hours to grow. However, when you're using the runelite client, there's an application that will show you the length of time you'll need to wait until the tree is fully grown. If you're using a different program it is easy to create a timer for your computer or phone.
If you plan to pay the farmer so that they can take care of your tree, make sure to plant 9 sweetcorns. Fruit trees require about 16 hours to develop, so it is best to plant in the night. Set a timer to ensure you can remember when to pick your crop!
