Most of these newer tools get loaded up with so many features that they just end up eating all your system resources for breakfast. Stripping things down to something minimal is the move when you actually need to get work done without the constant lag. Try out this open source claude code here: https://github.com/projectbarks/gopher-code . It's built to run fast and doesn't hammer your hardware nearly as hard. Handles the same complicated prompts but the whole thing just feels way more responsive. You'll blow through your tasks so much quicker when the interface isn't constantly slowing you down.

Sitting there watching a loading spinner while you're trying to keep your flow going just kills the whole momentum. Feels like technology keeps advancing but somehow the actual software just gets more bloated and demanding to run. You might want to try running your sessions through a basic terminal setup to strip out all the unnecessary overhead. Command-line interfaces tend to keep response times way snappier compared to those heavy plugins with all the visual stuff.

Got any faster alternatives to Claude Code for coding tasks? My setup can't really handle how slow it gets when the project's more involved. AI helping with code is honestly a lifesaver since it tackles like half the heavy lifting on its own. Problem is the more capable models start dragging their feet once things get complicated. Claude Code handles logic really well but man does it crawl sometimes. Not sure if my rig just isn't powerful enough or what but I need something that runs lighter. Anyone know of options that are quicker but still decent?
